The main advantage of classification is that it lends uniformity to services and sets the general standard of a hotel. Here’s the list of different room types found in Hotel. These are as follows:
- Single Room: A single room has one single bed for single occupancy. The size of the bed is normally 3 feet by 6 feet.
- Twin Room: A twin room has two single beds for double occupancy. The size of the bed is normally 3 feet by 6 feet.
- Double Room: A double room has one double bed for double occupancy. The size of the double bed is 6 feet by 6 feet.
- Double – Double Room: A double – double room has two double beds and is normally preferred by a family group as it can accommodate four people together.

- Parlor Room: A parlor has a living room without beds and may have sofas and chairs for sitting. This room is generally not used as a bedroom
- Efficiency Room: An efficiency room has an attached kitchenette for guests preferring a longer duration of stay. Generally, this type of hotel room is found in holiday and health resorts where guest stay for a longer period of time.
- Hollywood Room: A Hollywood room has a twin single bed with a common headboard.
- Adjoining Room: An adjoining room shares a wall with another room but is not connected by a door.
- Adjacent Room: An adjacent room is very close to another room but does not share a common wall with it.
- Hospitality Room: A hospitality room designed for hotel guests who want to use it for kitty party, get together, etc. Such rooms are generally charged on an hourly basis and there are no beds provide in these rooms.
- Suite Room: It is comprised of more than one room. Occasionally it can also be a single large room with clearly defined sleeping and sitting areas. The décor of such units is of very high standards aimed at pleasing the guest who can afford the high tariff. Suite Room are of different types. These are as follows:
1. Junior Suite: A single room with a bed and sitting area. Sometimes the sleeping area is in a bedroom separate from the living room.
2. Duplex Suite: It comprises two rooms situated on different floors, which are interconnected by an internal staircase.
3. Penthouse Suite: It is generally located on the topmost floor of a hotel and has an attached open terrace or open sky space.
